Blizzard has released a new patch for Warcraft III Changelog : - There is now a replay auto-save feature in the options menu. Replays are automatically saved to the "replay" folder. - The game is now automatically saved in the event of a potential disconnect. These saved games are placed in the "save" folder. - Player color selection can now be limited by the number of players in the game using an option in the "Advanced Options" screen during game creation. - Added an option to always show unit and building health bars. - You can now enable and disable the display of minimap signals from players and other observers using chat commands: /showminimapsignals and /hideminimapsignals. - Added a new in-game cheat "maxfps" to limit the maximum frame rate to the given number. Example: "maxfps 30" will set the maximum frame rate to 30 FPS. BALANCE CHANGES HUMAN
- Scout Tower repair rate changed from 12 to 20. - Knight damage increased: Attack cooldown changed from 1.50 to 1.40 and base damage increased from 25 to 28 (Average damage is 34). UNDEAD - Increased Ziggurat base armor from 1 to 5. - Reduced the build time of the Necropolis from 120 to 100. NIGHT ELF - Reduce the Orb of venom poison duration from 10 seconds to 8 seconds. - Increase the experience gain from Dryads from Level 2 (40xp) to Level 3 (60 xp). FIXES - The cooldown on unlimited usable items (example: the staff of preservation) now persists after the item is dropped or traded. - A cooldown exploit with potions has been fixed. - When you unburrow a Crypt Fiend, its auto-cast will no longer be toggled off. - An exploit bug in which items could lose their cooldowns when transferred between heroes has been fixed. - Fixed DotA-specific sound effects on Intel Macs. - Fixed sound falloff on Intel Macs. So it seems that the Blizzard worldwide invitational event will be held in Paris, oh la la. I've read that tickets are now available, so if you feel like taking a European holiday, now's the time to take action. Attendees will have the opportunity to play StarCraft 2 and WOW expansion Wrath of the Lich King!!!!! They will also see panel discussions, StarCraft tournaments, and most importantly, receive a goody bag full of all sorts of Blizzard fun, in particular a beta key to a upcoming Blizzard entertainment game! |

In a recent press conference in China, Blizzard responded to the ever present question regarding the system requirements for StarCraft 2. By responded, I mean hinted. "[T]he game is still refining, we cannot decide it yet. But the game used Pixel Shader 2.0, your system has to support it in order to run the game; also your video card shall be higher than GeForce 5200". For those who don’t know what a pixel shader is, according to Wikipedia, it is used to manipulate a pixel to apply an effect on an image. This is commonly used for realism effects and shadows in games.  |

And just because I couldn't resist, here are a few key points I stumbled across on the newly unveiled Zerg Units: Overlord *Can disable resource nodes and neutral observatories. *Can create small temporary patch of creep for fellow Zerg to build on. Overseer *Individual Overlords can mutate into Overseers. *no more creep abilities * has larger sight radius Roaches *High regeneration rate *Fast Speed *Can absorb a lot of damage Queen *New and different from the original StarCraft. *Limited to only one queen at any given time, but this is made up for by immense power capabilities *The queen is also a land unit and can attack. *Can temporarily turn Zerg Buildings into a defensive fortress. *Can restore HP of building quickly Baneling *Suicide Attacker *Has mutated from Zergling Infestor *Spell support unit. Still has some old Zerg spells, and Dark Swarm, but can't attack *Moves whilst in burrow mode. *Uses infestation to infest building; infested buildings can rapidly produce infested marines *Can create a damaging aura around a single unit that damages any unit near it Infested Marine *Created from Infested buildings, is very slow but is similar to marines Swarm Guardian *Has a long range attack and can produce broodlings *Mutation of mutalisks Nydus Worm *Can make an entrance and/or exit anywhere on the map *Is very fast *Useful in groups Hydralisk *No change from StarCraft Mutalisk *Still has bounce attack Ultralisk *Is the most powerful Zerg unit *Has splash damage and high HP Lurker *No change from StarCraft Corruptor *Has the ability to infest other units such as; *Air to air unit *Infested air units become stationery turrets |
