With so many old AUS-1 faces showing up all over the place since the announcement of StarCraft 2, I think it's time for a classic AUS-1 Brood War 2v2 tournament to celebrate!
The tournament would most likely be on a weekend, and will vary in size depending on interest.
So post your interest in the comments section of this news article! (Big Comments Link below if your on the AUS-1 front page). Please indicate whether you already have a partner, and what time of the day would be best for you on a Saturday or Sunday. |

The AUS-1 WarCraft III TFT Ladder Challenge Forums are located Here.
Even if you don't have any trouble finding Ladder games, please post your details in the Challenge forums so that we can get the ball rolling.

Of course this could be a publicity stunt or simply a mistake, however Game Planet Store Australia has published a pre-order option for StarCraft 2 in their online catalog with the delivery date set to 'Due to release on 25th December, 2008'.
Does this mean we won't be expecting to see the game on shelves until late next year?

-- The AUS-1 Website and PvPGN server will be off-line between 05:00 and 09:00 AM AEST today (29/05/2007) to perform a large hardware upgrade.
The AUS-1 Website and PvPGN server is being moved to a brand new, lightening fast custom built core 2 duo machine, which is expected to be the home of AUS-1 for the next few years. AUS-1 will remain hosted by Moore Information Technology, connected via Velocity Internet within the TransACT Data centre located in Canberra, Australia.
We apologise for any inconvenience this outage may cause. |

The official StarCraft II Website updated over the weekend to include a 20 minute gameplay trailer - essentially the same information delivered to the WWI conference in Korea. Unfortunately, its being distributed via the Blizzard downloader, which pretty much universally sucks, especially given that it weighs in at about 500Mb.
Fortunately AusGamers have put up a local mirror here. There is also the lower-quality and slightly smaller file here, but I'm not sure why you'd bother with that!

In what may be one of the most anticipated game announcements of all time, Today at their packed Worldwide Invitational in Seoul, South Korea, Blizzard Entertainment announced that StarCraft 2 will be their next game released!
Also as of today, just moments after Blizzard's announcement, the official website StarCraft2.com came to life with a cinematic trailer, artwork and game play videos for the StarCraft sequel.
Currently there is no official release date for the game... but now we know that it's definitely coming, and HELL, IT'S ABOUT TIME! |

Blizzard have just announced the release of the new StarCraft v1.15 Patch with Custom StarCraft League Functionality!
The release came only three weeks after information about the new patch and Custom League Functionality was first revealed on the Blizzard website.
The AUS-1 Games Server has been updated to support the new patch, however at this stage the Custom League Functionality is exclusive to Battle.net.
Visit http://www.battle.net/info/patch.shtml for more information about Blizzard StarCraft Leagues.
The new 1.15 Patch can be downloaded from http://www.ausgamers.com/files/details/html/28444 (StarCraft) and http://www.ausgamers.com/files/details/html/28445 (Brood War). |

How does it work? It is a very simple and basic format for a ladder that Battle.Net use to use when Blizzard was running Starcraft Brood War ladders long ago.
The system works in 3 parts.
K50 = K50 is your first 30 games, in here you can receive a maximum of 50points. If you vs someone the same rank as you, you will receieve +25 as they will lose -25. The system goes up and down from here depending on the difference of your points.
K30 = K30 comes into affect after you play 30games. Basically once this happens the maximum points you can gain is 30. If you vs someone the same rank as you, you will receive +15 as they lose -15. This is done to avoid abuse and to make it harder to gain a very high rank. Basically it will take skill to get high up in the rating!
K20 = K20 comes into affect after you 2200+ points. This is a very hard target to reach and it would be a very good achievement if someone hit this rating in the ladder. The maximum points you can gain here is 20.
This is how the ladder system works if you were wondering about that type of information. I hope you all are enjoying the ladder and good luck in your games! |
